Going from UTSA to Bama is a crazy big step up 
I'd think by now being a Bama DC would require atleast one season of shadow staffing

Most of the speculation says Golding (UTSA DC/CB coach) will more likely be named a Co-DC & position coach. Lupoi is already CoDC/OLB coach. Ansley is Bama's DBs coach. Smart & Pruitt both had experience coaching DBs before becoming DCs.

Who else would come to run Saban's defense?
A more established DC would want to run his own defense, not Saban's.
Fits Saban's mold of a young up and comer he can teach.
Seems like a good fit to me.
