I didn't oppose Wiki so much as I thought (and still do) that BTC is mostly useful for people who want to store assets outside their nation's banking system for whatever reason.

I did not agree with his pie in the sky ideas that it would replace national currencies all across the world. That still hasn't happened, nor do I see it replacing traditional "strong" currencies anytime soon like the dollar or euro.

The BTC-USD exchange rate had nothing to do with it.

The potential is there. He always reiterated it wouldn’t happen overnight. Posters busted his balls saying things like “I can’t walk into a store and pay with bitcoin” “only nefarious people use it”, well if you look around today many businesses are using it. I was in Orlando a few weeks ago and was appalled at the number of merchants and people using bitcoin.

One thing majority of crypto developers agree on is the ability to threaten fiat as we know it.

It's not the bitcoin is legitimately all that valuable, like $3-$5k...its that the strongest currencies in the world are in a way, collapsing against it...a printed dollar is worth about 50x it's recovery value (print)...

Bitcoin will do the same

I could be completely wrong, but I don't think any type of e-currency will ever replace physical currency.

Even if it isn't used as much, there will always be hard currency. IMO, I think it would be too risky not to have hard currency.

it kind of has, in many African and South American countries it is starting to be used in place of their native currencies. People have more faith in bitcoin than the bolivar and shite
