No need to discombobulate yoself , Skippy . It’s not an attack, just human nature across the generations and across societies . Affluence makes people weak and decadent. Knowing my grandparents and great aunts and uncles and how they came up in a Depression and then WW2 and then the Baby boomers , Gen X etc you can see a clear pattern from self sufficiency and personal discipline. It’s a stark generational regression. I’m not blaming you and I’m not exempting myself . I’m just observing the culture.

Imho , the internet age has turbocharged things. Life is just easier in a million different ways . It insulates us from reality. It allows us to believe that Celebrity Culture and SJW causes are the “ real” stuff . One can now live in Mom’s basement and still feel like you are participating in the larger culture. It’s a shift in the whole idea of what life is. Twenty year olds today are essentially children in a way we weren’t allowed to be .

By the way, you need to familiarize yourself with the recession of the early 80s, stagflation, unemployment rates, minimum wage, average salaries etc. America was a mess throughout the 70s and into around 1983. Rebounding after Obama feels a LOT like rebounding after Carter . And the standard of living in 2017 and the things taken for granted today that are RIDICULOUSLY affluent compared to 1977 or 1967.

Just look at any wealthy family or even any family who immigrated here and made money. First generation was the workers who made the money. second was born into it, but likely spent a lot of time working as well and saw the fruits of their parents labor when they were adults. Third and fourth generation were born into money from day one and never learns the value of a hard days work.
