#18 is for a senior. How the frick do some of y'all not know this? Lawrence & White. Really? Both are juniors. No wonder this site is a clusterfrick of garbage. We have some of the most uneducated fans in the conference.

T. White wore it two years...

Why? PP7, Honey Badger, and LF7 all got it as freshmen. Chark is the only one I recall switching. The #18 tradition is usually for upperclassmen though Hester got it from Mauck as a freshman. In reality, there is no #7 tradition.

Silly me, I thought that TM7 was a fresh when PP7 was a junior. Heck I even thought that he started with number 14 or something... My bad.

Anyway, you're acting like you know the rules of this #7 thing but I haven't seen them written down anywhere yet.

Heck, I'm just throwing an opinion out there just like you. Since the number 7 wasn't coveted till a few years ago, PP7 getting it as a freshman really doesn't apply. He actually kinda started the whole thing with TM7.

I am going to go out on a limb here and say tyran Mathieu picked #7 after Patrick Peterson left and I am going to say Leonard Fournette selected #7 also. Let me see Chark returns punts and was one of our most electrifying players coming back for his senior year and surprise surprise he wore #7. This number means something to these players and they want represent it with pride. Not rocket science here but marketing may play a little bit into this.

Yes we had some good #7's before PP. Trevor Faulk, Ali Highsmith, Rondell Mealey (thanks ATL)etc. I think Patrick Peterson started this #7 thing especially since he was mentioned as a Heisman candidate then Tyran Mathieu took it to the next level when he was a Heisman finalist. LF chose it I guess to kinda say I am continuing the greatest of #7. Whatever I think it is cool that this number has meaning to players and recruits.

It plays a role in the sense of individualism and so fans like you have something to look forward to. It has no bearing on team chemistry or wins and losses. It represents a legacy equaling a payday for that individual player. I don’t like it. It places far too much emphasis on the individual and not on the team.

I don't disagree with you on the individualism comment but have you seen how recruiting goes these days. It is a Frickin shitshow and all about self promotion especially with these 4* and 5* players. Imho if #7 lsu gets us some of these players I am for it.
