I believe LSU told Faulk, McNair and Favre to play DB.

Even Southern Miss told Favre to play DB. He was a safety when he got there and then switched back to QB and was like the 5th or 6th string QB before getting a chance.

The big thing with all these guys is that the industry as a whole largely passed on them.

Faulk went to San Diego St because Curtis Johnson gave him the opportunity to play RB. Faulk credits his RB coach at SDSU for teaching him so much about football in general because after he would take his RB test before each game, the coach would give him the WR test, the OL test, the QB test, and allow him to learn and test his knowledge of the offense from every perspective. That coach: Sean Payton.
