The kids simply miss out on some fun because the parents are lazy, or crave credit for the gifts or are simply still rebelling.

1) what fun do they miss out on?
2) how is this a sign of laziness on the part of the parents?
3) the parents are the ones buying the gifts, why shouldn't the children be thankful to the parents for the gifts
4) how is this a sign of rebelling? Did you read the article?

The fun is the expectation of Santa and everything that goes with it. I loved it as a kid and my kids love it now.

Laziness because in the story you posted the author makes it sound like it's a big deal move the elf.

Does a parent need credit for every gift? Can't some come from Santa? If they need credit for all it's sad.

Rebelling? You know exactly what I'm talking about.

I think the point is that it's fine if you choose tom deprive your children of one of the happiest and most magical times of their lives. Int he end it will likely have no real effect on them.

But, to criticize people who do let their kids believe is just being a dick for the sake of being a dick.
