Could the Republicans not recruit anyone better than those two clowns?
Aside from those two, the state bench was pretty bare of talent and there wasn't a candidate that could credibly challenge Vitter's money and name recognition.
Strain is not interested and is happy where he is, Scalise has too much power in DC to give up, Garrett Graves was too green and young, Kennedy was only state treasurer at the time.
It was Dardenne, Vitter and Angelle and that's it.
Jindal pushed Angelle as hard as he could behind the scenes because he fricking hated Vitter after he called him out on how shitty his second term as Governor was going. They used to be on good terms.
In fact, I fully believe that Jindal was behind and encouraged Angelle's strategy of relentless character assassination and he timed his exit from the Presidential race in the same week as the runoff to frick over Vitter good.
Jay Dardenne? Who knows but he couldn't get much traction in part becuase he supports giving millions of our dollars away to hollywood despite there bing no significant ROI and economic development and he's continually defended that welfare scam.

Remember this, the national Republican party offered up two worthless candidates in Mccain and Romney in 08 and 12. I was forced to vote for these two clowns because I knew what Obama had in mind for this country.
I didn't vote for McCain I saw him as nothing more than a third term of Bush on steroids and a disaster waiting to happen in the same reasons that Obama was going to be a disaster too.
Romney? Why should I vote for they guy who pushed a healthcare model that democrats chose to model ObamaCare after?
But see here's the thing, I didn't vote for them because I had stark policy differences with them, not idiotic and misguided rage over fee fees pissing me off like "conservatives" who voted for JBE did.
quote:
Most of the Republicans run as conservatives, but govern as democrats...which sucks because Vitter did not fall into that category.
And that's why I had no problem voting for Vitter because he had an official and professional record that was reliable and consistent and he did not commit a crime or abuse tax dollars.
Shame others couldn't see it that way to their own detriment.

I support Trump because he never tried to sell me that he was a conservative.
Oddly enough, Trump has turned out to be a more conservative POTUS than either Bush and is in the process of challenging Reagan.

Steve Scalise if he decided to run would beat JBE 20-30 pts.
