The dude in the teal softshell jacket right up front, stage left was me.
Only Devin Townsend could take songs about his scrotum and turn it into art bordering on a religious experience, haha.
I had only heard some of his stuff with Steve Vai, so I had no idea what I was getting into.
As for the Obsessed, they were right up my ally, but the lead guitar player could have been a little better. I really loved the tone the bassist was getting out of his rig. That’s exactly the tone my bassist and I have been trying to figure out how to produce.
Clutch was awesome. Their front man just bleeds energy and it makes the whole thing really work for me. Nothing any individual in that band does musically is all that remarkable, but it’s so tight, so well balanced. It’s a band that is clearly greater than the sum of its parts. Just a fantastic show all the way around.

You need to watch more of Jean Paul Gaster's drumming. He's one of my favorite drummers to watch. I saw him play drums with Wino's solo band when they opened for Clutch and it is one of the best live drum performances I've ever seen.
Good that you liked the show. Maybe now you'll stop listening to radio rock and see that the genre is alive and well.
