I remember the same in the 70's and 80's. I think in the 90's they started having more police presence and fighting tapered off.
I remember the Ole Miss fans used to hang Rebel flags around the visitor section and other places. LSU fans would casually walk by and set them on fire. That started a few fisticuffs back the day.
Watching fights was definitely part of the TS experience.
