A friend of mine went to Germany and did the diet change, alternative treatments, etc. He was dead in 18 months (funeral was 3 weeks ago). I admire him for going all out and doing everything he could to live. He probably did extend his life a bit and didn’t have to go through the misery of chemo but after two trips to Germany and many thousands of dollars spent, it really didn’t do much for him.

But did it improve his self-esteem, efficacy, dignity etc?

Until we are put in that situation we can't say for sure what we find as therapeutic or not; even eradication of disease won't help with the psychological or social component.

With that said I'd always be a little skeptical of treatments that haven't undergone randomized controlled trial studies

Since cancer grows from amino acids and glucose, wouldn't it be really hard for cancer to form or grow initially if you didn't have any glucose in your body?
