His buyout is there as a defense during recruiting season against other schools telling recruits that he won't be at LSU very long or will be easily removed, etc. That's really why it is what it is.

Fine but it’s not vaporware. It’s a real thing that LSU will have to pay if it wants to upgrade at some point.
