Captain must live on the boat and be there at all times. A friend deals poker at boomtown and said the captain makes over 100k a year to captain a boat that never leaves port

quote:They don't live on the boat but there has to be a Captain on at all times. The usually work 14 days on 7 off or something like that. 12 hour days. 7 days, 7 nights then 7 off. They boats don't move but they are in charge of things like keeping the boats up, USCG inspections etc. They are "vessels" so they have to all be trained in firefighting, have drills etc. Tons of paperwork to go along as well. He still is in charge and can found held liable if there is an equipment fire or something on board.
