you people do know the bullet bounced off the ground and traveled 80 ft and hit an artery, right. You do know that a ballistics/firearm expert testify that the best marksmen on the planet would not be able to duplicate the tragic shot even under lab conditions.

yes the guy was illegal, and should have been deported

They should have concentrated on some sort of manslaughter charge.

From what I know there are no elements of 'murder' which relate to the actions. Of course I am not a legal expert, but neither are the members of the jury.

Seems to me the only charge that could be sustained by evidence was recklessness.

He may well have intended to kill someone - but I am aware of no actual evidence to support that. I am sure this happens all the time.

The entity that should be attacked is the city and county of San Francisco.

It is their fecklessness that caused the death of Kate Steinle. They should be the ones to suffer the consequences. They need to be forced to enter one of those "Consent Decrees" which puts the FedGov in the position of directing their policing actions.

I would bet 99.9% of the folks in this thread don't know the facts of the case.
