They really don't have much of a choice. Mississippi State without their starting QB and an interim coach isn't a good draw neither is South Carolina.

Bingo!

It's almost assured that Bama and UGA are going to a NY6 game if not the playoffs. If Auburn loses then they would finish with 3 loses just like LSU and LSU beat AU head to head. Nonetheless, AU finished the reg. season 10-2 and won the SECW. I can't see LSU getting picked ahead of them.

That leaves a relatively mediocre "second tier" headed by LSU. I'm sure the Citrus Bowl doesn't want to take LSU for a 2nd year in a row. And I'm sure the players really don't want to go there for a second year in a row. But LSU presents a far better matchup than any of the other potential SEC schools. So it makes sense to take LSU again, even if it isn't ideal.

Personally, unless you are in the playoffs EVERY bowl game is just a glorified exhibition game. I don't care about the location. I just want to see the best matchup. I'd rather watch LSU play a top 15 team in Boise, Id. than watch them play a fringe top 20 team in, say, the Cotton Bowl

LSU vs. ND is more intriguing to the average fan than LSU vs. Mich. St.
