We use Homeaway.com, just spent 7 weeks in Vienna, side trips to Budapest, Prague, Melk and Salzburg.
Two years ago 3 Months in Malaga Spain. Fo us this beats ant cruise. Live like the locals, meet people, very relaxing. Cruises are too confining and rushed.
Even though the food is good after a week tastes the same. But to each their own
Friends who have cruised and now rent an apartment and make side trips agree with us

I am a witness....

I like that route too if you are staying in the same place for awhile, 7 weeks is much longer than most. We did a home exchange in Kent England and then rented an Airbnb in London when I was there this past summer.

But I really like the appeal of only checking into one place, your time on vacation is limited and checking into 3-4 hotels, unpacking, traveling to and from, etc. adds up more than most will admit.

I'm extremely anti cruise, never been on one. But a cruise like this in Europe on a small boat where your only real time on the boat is eating breakfast and dinner and sleeping, appeals to me. It would be nice to go to bed and wake up in a different town, and never having to check in or out of a hotel every time.
