Owners were cheap bastards back then.

But the stats don't lie.

There's no evidence he was in on throwing games during the World Series. If he was, he sucked at it.

Babe Ruth said of Shoeless Joe, “I copied Jackson’s style because I thought he was the greatest hitter I had ever seen, the greatest natural hitter I ever saw. He’s the guy who made me a hitter.”

I mean, c'mon? This guy isn't in the Hall? Over a very shady case in a very shady era with very shady owners.

And that's the thing, there was so much corruption back then and Jackson's involvement is still debated. Like you said, if he was in on the fix, he sucked.

There's an affidavit and a book about the Cubs throwing the 1918 series and sharing the idea with the Sox. The 1919 White Sox aren't a uniquely rogue team of that era.
