Bad thing about counseling is, it only works if both parties want to do it. She'll probably go to one or two sessions, then quit and things will revert back to before she left. Rinse and repeat. Counseling didn't work for me.

That is very true--if she is unwilling to go to counseling, then there's no reason to try to save a clearly failed marriage. Adultery is grounds for divorce (as is abandonment, though legally it may be cheaper and easier to go the no-fault route), and if the nephew is a Christian he can divorce and remarry under Biblical standards.

But if she is genuinely remorseful and is willing to get help and do what is necessary, then a restored marriage is a powerful testimony that one doesn't have to simply give up when things go very wrong.
