For people like Moore, faith is little more than a political platform and a social and professional necessity--something expected in a deeply religious place like rural Alabama. Even though I believe that religious observance is good for society and imparts many positive influences--even among the non-believing--the Moores of the world just discredit faith in public life.

I have a lot of good people in my family who are Christians. I have no issue with what someone chooses to believe. Whatever floats your boat.

That being said, to your point, at the end of the study from which I pulled the graphic they discuss the causes of the decline in Christianity among the young and the conclude that it inextricably tied to the archaic social positions of people like Roy Moore. If Christianity wants to turn the ship around they need to start shedding the dead skin and start acting a little more like Jesus.
