Controlled trophy hunting has proven time and again to help preserve species, not destroy them. The only way to truly protect elephants and other large mammals is to make their survival beneficial to those that live near them. Only then will those people do what it takes to ensure the survival of the species.

Many times the meat is given to local villages as well.
