Solich couldn’t recruit. Simple as that. The fact that he’s been at Ohio since then, with no other substantial offers, shows how “excellent” he is.
As far as recruiting goes, Frost won’t have a problem. He’s a hot name and he'll land plenty of kids. Heck, Bill Callahan had Top 5 classes in Lincoln just because of his NFL experience. It’s not nearly as hard as you’re making it out to be.

quote:Checked your recruiting claims on Rivals, and if you go by average star rating Solich's last two classes were pretty much in line with Nebraska's recent historical norms - mid teens to upper 20s. Which is exactly what Callahan's single "top 5 class" in 2005 was - the only reason it was ranked highly is because he had 32 signees.

Sure, Frost is a 'hot name', and initially he'll pull in a few FL/GA kids who are already familiar with him from UCF. But in the end, he'll still be at Nebraska, a school that hasn't finished ranked in the top 10 since the class of '18 got out of diapers, and hasn't won a conference championship since before they were born.
This ain't 1995, when the Huskers were at the top of the college football universe and it was still possible to get high-functioning illiterates in school as 'partial qualifiers', and then cover up their criminal activities to 'keep them on track'.
Ask Scott Frost about that. I'm sure he understands.
