We are eating in the country and have dinner about 4:30 to have plenty of time to cook and visit. A friend is bringing a sack of oysters and he volunteered to shuck and serve, on half shell and chargrilled on the green egg. I have 2 2008 Williams Selyem Blanc sparkling that we will open with those to get it started.

Someone will bring a couple of Chardonnay to go during the day as well.

I am doing a standing rib and a bone in leg of lamb. To serve with dinner I will open a 2009 Fisher Wedding Vineyard Cab Franc and a 2014 Blackbird Paramour magnum.

My wife cooked braised short ribs and grits yesterday and we enjoyed a 2012 Blackbird Paramour. It is a very nice blend.

Might open a Limerick Lane or a Turnbull depending on how the above goes. This group enjoys and will bring a bunch of good gems themselves so I just may get to hold on to one or two of mine.

I had that at a restaurant here in Los Angeles recently. Well, braised short ribs and polenta. Hard to find grits around here. They served it with a Cabernet Sauvignon reduction sauce drizzled over it. It was outstanding. Paired it with a 2013 Brewer-Clifton Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir.

Williams Selyem produces my wife’s favorite pinots. Have a case being delivered this month as a matter of fact. None of it will be served to our family though... i don’t like them that much.
