600 is really not that impressive. I'm on the verge of that.

Because no human is reaching that strength without drugs. They want to be the strongest in the world, lift the most weight possible. The mentality is do anything at all costs to be the strongest, regardless of consequence.
I applaud and am also impressed by guys that are natural and freaks of nature (ala Maxx Chewning or Silent Mike Farr.. I'm a huge fan of theirs) but I think it's also unfair to take away from the big guys lifting 900+ pounds just because they're not natural. Natural or not, those guys put it just as much, if not more, work to achieve their goals.

Well they should look up cailer woolam and yury Belkin. They are around 220 pounds pulling 900 pounds.

I honestly believe strength is not linear.

I'm impressed by Russel Orhii, too. Lifts in the 83kg class, so roughly 180 pounds...deadlifts over 700 in the gym (only got 688 in his last meet), and totaled 1474 in his last USPA meet, which is tested.

Someone like Maxx Chewning who can pull 600+ and very likely natty is far more impressive to me that some 300 lb dude roided out of his mind
It's really not cheating if you're lifting in a non tested federation. If you want to be the best in that fed, then do what it takes.
People throw out the steroids thing all the time. There's no way in hell I can just start juicing and throw around 405 like it's nothing. Don't discredit someone's hard work and dedication.

I mean cool I guess but it's insanely stupid. Their bodies will be messed up later in life due to those heavy weights and years of gear. All to move a few more plates. Not really the health & fitness lifestyle

I don't disagree with that but it's their choice. Their goal is one thing, and only one thing: to be the best. Just like a professional football player, they will do anything and everything to win.

I'd say the fastest I've pulled 405 was somewhere in between both guys.
This was when I was pulling low 600's at 185 bw at 19/20 years old
Impressive video

The federation he competes is probably not tested
So it's not cheating then

Very nice. What kind of program were you running?
Posted on 11/12/17 at 12:35 pm to Hu_Flung_Pu
At that time it was a progressive overload template with percentages.
So a very heavily modified Russian program. One of our coaches at the time competed in the masters category at the world level for IPF. I also learned a little bit from Garry Frank
My nutrition sucked and I didn't have the knowledge I did now.

So frequent deadlifts or more squat work? I'm trying to think of the best way to get to 600 and up to 700. I'm close to 600 now.
Posted on 11/13/17 at 6:44 pm to Hu_Flung_Pu
Honestly I think you are getting to that point where you could experiment with a deadlift every other week. Imo you are getting to the point that building speed matters a lot more
Other weeks I'd work on front squats good morning heavy kettlebells swings or hang cleans etc.
Or if you don't I'd do speed deads or cleans on the weeks I'm not pulling too heavy.

Yep, I started doing dynamic work with bands last week.
Posted on 11/13/17 at 8:55 pm to Hu_Flung_Pu
Yeah I'd stick with that for a while then

I’m more impressed by Dennis Cornelius. If you guys don’t know him look him up. Ole country boy squatting 900 barefoot. And he competes (or did) in the tested federation.
