Pre-emptive war, as practiced by both Bush's, is fundamentally at odds with libertarian thought.

Which is drop of water in an ocean of reasons why a libertarian will nwver be more than a fringe element party, unable to elect, or even help elect a candidate for congress, much less the presidency.

Here's a shocker for you. People with a brain would rather fight terrorists and criminals where they are, rather than wait for them to come here and kill Americans. That is the terrorists objective, you know.

Yes a preemptive invasion of a secular Iraqi regime has so much to do with fighting terrorism.

By accepting pre-emptive war without Congressional approval, you are trusting the same people in government you distrust when it comes to every other aspect of running your life. There will always be a boogeyman around every corner, so the military contractors, defense contractors and lobbyists can continue to fleece the taxpayers blind. If you want to go to war, do it constitutionally by going to Congress and getting a declaration of war.

Iraq - Better in 2001 or 2017?

Libya - Better in 2010 or 2017?

Syria - Better in 2011 or 2017?

Afghanistan - Better in 2001 or 2017?

Yemen - Better in 2001 or 2017?

Pakistan - Better in 2001 or 2017?

Somalia - Better in 2001 or 2017?

Our War on Terror isn't about ridding the world of terrorists. If it was, we wouldn't have deposed Saddam in Iraq and Ghaddafi in Libya, whose biggest opponents were Islamic radicals. We also wouldn't be calling for Assad's ouster in Syria. We wouldn't be giving the Saudi's billions in aid and weapons when 19 of the 20 hijackers on 9/11 were Saudi's. We wouldn't be allied with the other Gulf States, who along with Saudi Arabia export the most violent form of Islam in the world. After decades of us being involved in regional conflicts, the Middle East is more of a cauldron now than it has ever been.
