The time to go for it was two years ago. That's the year after we won 98 games, let a bunch of guys go, and didn't replace them with anyone. All the while making millions in the process.

I will agree with you that Pittsburgh should have spent some money a few years ago to supplement their core when their contention window was open. And I totally understand why Pirates fans are pissed about that, and I do think their return on Cole was very light.

But your cross sport comparisons are completely absurd as most are and show you don’t really understand the fundamental differences between the two sports. Also find me a pro baseball team that is currently good that has built their team primarily through free agency, regardless of market size.

Now please stop shitting up this thread

ETA also the trade penalties he’s talking about in the NFL are for signing bonuses and yes they exist.
