I was under the impression consanguination was illegal in every state to at least some degree. And always beyond 3rd cousins, so 1st cousins would be illegal.

Some other OT thread got me in a Wikipedia downward spiral reading up on that a while back. I wouldn't recommend it.

Meh - I think only a bare majority of states even ban it at all. 3rd cousin seems extreme.

Cousin marriage wasn't prohibited at all until the Civil War, just FTR.

When I took the Tennessee bar exam in 2009, marriage between first cousins was still legal
