I don't give a shite what AD wants at this point. That's not how anyone would build a team in todays NBA. If AD was getting us to the playoffs every year, and was a true superstar, then i'd listen to him, but he's not at this point, so he can shut the hell up and do what he's told.

teddy, that is exactly how everyone builds teams these days.

get lucky with a star, make him happy, use him to attract other stars. that's the entire premise upon which the best teams in the league are being built.

where has that gotten most teams? Name a team that drafted a star and built a championship contender around them other than GSW, Cleveland, OKC, and SAS, and if not for LEbron's greatness, Cleveland would have fricked that up, which they did.

Quit listening to what the so called star wants. If he's a capable star, you have him for 8 years. Really doesn't matter what you do in that time frame, that star isnt' leaving in that time frame. So you have 8 years to build a winner. I would bet AD would be happier playing the 5 and being a perennial playoff team, than not playing the 5 and not making the playoffs every year.

Is AD a GM? no, so quit letting him influence how the team is built. There's only a handful of players that should be able to demand things to their front office and they listen, and AD isnt' one of those guys yet. If you can't single handedly get your team to playoffs, much less to .500, then you haven't earned the right to tell the front office what to do yet.
