Well LsU hired O with a $12 million buyout. I see your point though. I am just pissed that a shitty coach got a buyout that should only go to like about 3-4 coaches currently in college football.. and you cannot make the LSU Bos less involved when it comes to LSU system employee contracts. that directly falls under their jurisdiction.

Then why are we blaming Alleva for O's buyout? The BOS approved it.
The way you make them less involved is by having stronger leaders making decisions that the BOS wouldn't get involved with. Someone like Emmert who stepped in and made everyone realize the way to improving the university as a whole was by improving the football program.

Right. If you find the truly in demand people in the private sector there are employers willing to throw all kinds of incentives at them in order to retain them, including rich severance agreements. Just look at the so called "golden parachutes" that are given to top level CEO's. You can negotiate those kind of benefits if the company employing you thinks that you are valuable enough. That just isn't going to be most people.

If you read my prior posts, I put a huge amount of blame on LSU BOS and King. They all share in the blame, but Alleva as the head negotiator shares most of the blame.

Absolutely. LSU needs another 1999 reset in the worst way.

It protects the school as well. If someone wants to steal your coach when they are performing well, they gotta pay up.
If someone wants to steal Orgeron, I think we could waive the buyout.

quote:Alleva literally has to be the worst AD negotiator ever. First he let Les Miles dick him over with a phantom job at Arkansas to the tune of 7-8 million, then he gives O a golden parachute of 12 million with no strings attached. Who signs these fricking contracts at LSU? At my company, a crap contract like this would never see the light of day.
Alleva was literally negotiating against himself for O's "services"
