Dumb but you make a good point about the chosen method of killing.
He could have easily flown into the crowd and set off a bomb, killing way more people. Why didn't he just do that if he didn't mind dying?

Because then there wouldn't be crime scene photos of over the counter assault weapons for the media to run with 24/7 and planes aren't political.
