That's not the point.
Joe was gambling that LSU would never fire him for the Orgeron hire without firing Orgeron too. In giving O that insane buyout, he was just hedging his bets.

No, that's not the point. He didn't have to hedge anything. He could have just played the cards he was dealt.

The next AD has to be in place before O is even fired. Ed's buyout offers Joe zero protection.
