any non-rookie contract examples?

James Ennis
Troy Daniels
Kyle Anderson
Will Barton
Jodie Meeks (although he's never healthy)
Afflalo just signed for the minimum
Ramon Sessions
Brandon Rush
Gerald Green
Luke Babbit

Moore is a guy that won't play more than 20 minutes a game and won't score in double digits on average.
Can those guys above give you 15 minutes a game and hit a few threes for $5M+/yr less.

I like Moore, and i think he's an underrated defender. I just think it's stupid to give a bench player a 4 year contract. He's not integral to the core of the team, yet the contract you gave him makes him.
The only longer than 2 year contracts any team should have is for their superstars and rookies, imo.

to each his own, but i would rather have Moore at his salary than most of those guys, even at their lower numbers.

now, i do agree that giving a rotation player 4 years guaranteed can be foolish. i think Moore's deal is fair given what he brings, but i understand your point and its a smart one.

though let's say they do find a Barton or another Ennis, having those extra years makes it easier to keep them too

Barton and Ennis are expected to get raises on their next deals next year. Everyone else is either much worse than Moore, or is as talented but a one way player in a league where being a 2 way player like Moore is becoming more valuable and being a 1 way player is becoming a liability. Is it possible to find someone as good as Moore that's cheaper? Yes, but not in the FA market. I think he's appropriately valued.
