I can really only speak from my time as a student 96-2000

There was optimism in 96 and 97 and we had great RBs. Stadium was much smaller then but was mostly full. People didn't leave like they did today. Tailgating was a bigger attraction and way better than today. First come first serve parking and spots pretty much anywhere on campus except really close.

Then in 98 we were top 10 and at the top of the world and then we lost to UGA I believe and it was never the same again until Saban came in. The losing started off slow but we played respectably but still finished 4 and 7. In 1999 the wheels came off.

This team we have reminds me more of 1999 than 1998 in its play but 1998 in its hype.
