I just don't see how he couldn't see something like that coming. It seems to me that putting in competing offers is part of participating in a competitive hiring market. I don't see holding it against any hiring candidate for trying to get their best offer. It's how it works in every other hiring process. The only difference is that a college coach at this level probably has a lot more bargaining power than average, which only makes negotiating even more important. This kind of incompetence and ego is mind-blowing.

other than the temper tantrum, i really think he got convinced that he could be a trend setter and savior of CFB by standing up to "big money" hires and creating a new paradigm of "lower paid HC and investing in assistants"
