re: Why do people send kids to boarding school

Honestly, I felt the same way, but as my kids got older I met lots of people that went to boarding schools and sent their children. There are so many reasons to consider it:

Family tradition

Maybe the local schools suck and homeschooling is not an option.

Kid may have more opportunities at the boarding school. Special emphasis on STEM or art or whatever the kid likes.

Sometimes kids in military parents that move frequently are better off at boarding school. they can stay in one school while the rest of the family moves around from place to place.
