I don't see no house! Just put a rope up top and pull it tight with a come-a-long, real tight. Then cut a notch out and a slanted cut on the backside. Put some wedges in there and it will fall exactly where you want it too.
No way I would pay someone for such an easy job of dropping it and leaving it.

The camp is directly to the right out of frame.
The more I look at it the more I'm tempted to do it myself. But if it falls on that old camp I'm pretty sure me and the wife would have to move out the country

Looks like pine beetles killed it

Have one other one close by that suddenly died as well. I haven't seen any sign of lightning so I tend to agree it was beetles but something made it dead
Posted on 9/30/17 at 3:57 pm to FelicianaTigerfan
Probably Ips beetles. Pine beetle sign looks like popcorn.

Possibility, need more pictures up close of the tree

from looking at that pic, that tree wants to fall to the right. an experienced sawhand can move the fall some, but would probably need help from a skidder or the like. Dead pines are tricky, the longer they are dead the worse, older dead ones will sometimes break up during the fall with different pieces falling randomly.
What ever you decide, the sooner the better.
(yes I have worked as a logger)

CSA is right. To be safe, that dead tree needs to be topped, piece by piece. Trees like that are nightmares for guys that fell trees for a living.

Yea I need it to fall about 10-11 o'clock Or quartering away to the left into those woods if it was a deer.
No telling how much someone will charge me to come in and limb it then take the top out and work down. If they even do that on a dead tree

Bucket truck is the safe way. How tall is it. Might be cheaper to rent a man lift for a day and do it yourself.
Posted on 9/30/17 at 5:41 pm to fishfighter
It's pretty tall. That limb that's broke off you can see in the pic is between 16 and 20'

Get a licensed arborist to give you a quote. Add 500.00 on top for your trouble, get witch to pay for it. Win, win.

I got a few trees cut down about two years ago, and it was $800/tree with stump removal.
