Miles would often revert to conservative styles in ugly games that never pushed his teams to work on weaknesses like making plays in the passing game when the running game isn’t there. It’s never fun to watch but O was clearly trying to work on pain points.

Is it wise to work on "pain points" during a competitive game, or is the point to win the game?

You don't work on stuff you don't have down pat during the game. That's what practice is for.

If you ever played organized sports at any level you'd understand that practice is far different than an actual game.

Of course the point is to win a game, but when playing lesser opponents, it's a good chance to work on ALL facets of the offense, even if we're not yet good at it yet, because we'll certainly need to use it later against better teams. Practice just can't simulate real game action and pressure, no matter how hard you try.

Uh, not sure what this writer has been watching, but we weren't "working on pain points" by throwing.

Our run game is just as bad as our passing game if not worse.

That's the biggest difference so far. Love it or hate it, at least Miles' teams had an identity and sometime we could lean on. This team doesn't know what the hell it wants to be.
