Agree with all of that.

The problem I see for the league is that when you couple the fact that they've always been the "zero individualism" league with them not engaging in fines here, then the league really can't play the whole "players represent themselves" card.

The league has definitively taken a position. Hell. They opposed emblems supporting police officers just last year.

Will them taking a position against a substantial portion of their fans hurt them? I'm sure that argument will go on for some time.

But, there is really no avoiding that the league has in fact said, "well, we've always said don't do shite that pisses off some fans........but........well.........ok.......except for those fans".

Seems an unwise move.

My biggest problem with the NFL, and it isn't limited to the NFL, is the hypocrisy. The way they've handled several situations (Brady, Rice, Zeke) is a joke, and removes all serious consideration of their ability to make decisions.

More on point, I don't remember seeing the national anthem that often before this shite started. I don't watch the NFL that much any more, but didn't they used to take that opportunity to go to commercial more often than not? Now, they have Jordin Sparks out there singing it before a week 3 game that isn't that good.

The league is show business, not unlike Hollywood or Broadway. As one of the jewels in the establishment's bread and circuses crown, it is simply playing its role in the game of distract and divide.

This is all being orchestrated and that's why Trump is getting in the middle of it. He's playing out his role in the script.

No. The majority of fans don't care about the political leanings of the players, and the establishment won't allow one of its greatest distractions to take a hit.

In the bigger picture, the NFL isn't some stand alone entity.
