What cities would you recommend for a first time visit? What time of year is the best to travel?

Depends on your interests?

Huge State with very different regions.

Girdwood/Alyeska
Lodging:
-Resort Alyeska

To Do:
-Ski
-Hike
-Mountain bike
-Helicopter tour or dog sled with Alpine Air Alaska, Inc.*

Food:
-Seven Glaciers at resort
-Jack Sprat in town

Homer
To Do:
-take Danny J Ferry to Halibut Cove and eat at The Saltry*
-halibut fishing

Lodging:
-Land’s End Resort

Seward
To Do:
-boat tour/cruise Kenai Fjords National Park
-halibut fishing

Interior
To Do:
-Denali National Park tour
-Fly over Denali and land on the Ruth Glacier with Talkeetna Air Taxi*

Lodging:
-Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge

Anchorage
Food:
-Crow’s Nest at Captain Cook Hotel
-Kincaid Grill

Other:
-Ride the Alaska Railroad between cities (get the GoldStar service). I like the Seward to Girdwood route the most.

-Salmon fishing or want to see bears? Fish/tour Wolverine Creek with High Adventure Charter in Soldotna
