Because the cost to move a single bedroom apartment is the same as a 5000sq ft house... thanks for the overwhelming amount of details

Well, he's concerned about the cost. I'm assuming it's closer to the apartment than the 5000sqft house.

I apologize your grace.
2100 sqft house, single story.

Here's a nicer, quicker, easier approach:
"How big is your home/apartment?"
"How big is your home/apartment?"

Got a quote today
To use a 26' truck - 1160 flat fee
Then 145/hour for a 4 men crew which starts as soon as they pull up the house.
So about 2,900

I'm in the process of moving less than 200 miles right now. The quote to move a 2 bedroom duplex was over $1,000. However cheap you think you can get away with moving, double your number. It has been an extremely expensive process.

That is pretty good. When moving out of my first home (1500sq ft), it was $900 to move about 20 miles. That was with me moving all the stuff that could fit in boxes. Moving guys took all the furniture/appliances/yard equipment that couldn't fit in a sedan.

Just rent a truck with a power lift gate and do it yourself.
You’ll need to hit Harbour Freight and get some mover’s dollies, regular dolly, straps, tape etc. Find boxes behind a shopping center.
Probably $700-$900 total to move.

you sure you can fit everything into one 26' truck? the truck will be a flat rate of 29.99 or so, but you will get charged a mileage fee on top of that. so figure your mileage then figure your truck will get 8-10 mpg. a car hauler will be another 100 per day. also look into movinghelp.com, you can arrange to have help load and unload the truck. I moved from the new Orleans area to Raleigh and the company I work for paid right at 10,000. if I were to do it my self with two trucks and car trailers it would have been about 4,000 believe it or not.

Company is giving I think 12k in moving cost, but trying to save some money for housing, furniture and/or anything else we need. figuring the packing time, I'm looking at more then 4k and not the 2900 like i stated earlier.

I may actually rent a couple of Pods and move them to our new place in Texas....I'll see how much that cost.

very expensive. The rent of the pod is nothing, they will charge a lot to move from NO to DFW.

More than 4k you think?

This. I moved myself. Had about a 2350-2400 sq ft home. It took two moves with a 26' truck.

You think they will be able to load it up, drive to the new place, and unload it in 12 hours?

Yeah that’s 20 hours round trip driving in a 26’ truck. You’re looking at a 5k move. If not opposed to driving I’d look at cost on renting u haul one way and paying someone to load in TX and unload in NOLA.
