My tournament setup for Hobie Outback is two pvc bunks spanning between two wood cross member support. The front wood cross member sits in the bed. The rear sits and fits on a Harbor Freight tailgate extender. The Outback sits on/is suspended by the PVC which flexes and provides cushion to the yak.

Mine is overkill but its meant for tournament style quick combat launches. I can pull my fully loaded Outback back off the bunks just a bit, attach wheels, and then fully unload the kayak. Same with loading it. The only things I load and unload everytime are cooler and Mirage drive. Obviously the yak can be near 130lbs rigged so I have to be sure to have eaten my Wheaties, but its fast and only needs one strap from launch to launch. The biggest challenge is getting wheels under and outfrom the Outback while fully loaded on the ground.
