No doubt, I've learned from previous indiscretions. Even a thought in mistrust can be detrimental.
But still, what the frick? Should I just cut off all contact with ex's? Be a huge dick and deal with short term consequences as opposed to long term?

depends on who you value more in your life. who brings more value to your life.
eta: i have no issue cutting someone out of my life for the person i love. i also have cut people out of my life that i should have chosen over my SO.

Probably. What purpose is there in keeping them in your life? You won’t be good friends. All it does is dredge up memories & complicate things.
