I bought a brand new one, 5.7L engine, 4x4, Z71 package, four door, for $38k at Edwards Chevrolet in B'ham, on the last day of June. Shopped for a year and that was the best deal I found. Edwards didn't charge doc fess, so that was a couple hundred we saved, too.
Even the used trucks with 30k miles weren't that much cheaper and when you figured the higher interest on a used vehicle and the fact that you were getting a vehicle with a couple of years' worth of wear on it, buying used didn't make sense at the time. Plus, my son will be 16 in 7 years and our plan is to pass this truck down to him, so playing conservative on the mileage was a factor.
For a used fleet truck, All About Trucks in Birmingham is pretty good. My father-in-law has bought several there. If they come from a reputable company the advantage to buying a fleet truck is you know they were serviced at the correct intervals.

Edwards beat every price on line I've seen in Alabama too.
