I was in a five-year relationship with an actress, who starred in a CSI-like television show. One day, as I stood stark naked in my apartment, she announces that she is breaking up with me. Devastated, and unable to banish my grief through one-night stands, I take a trip to Hawaii. However, the vacation is ruined when I find that my ex and her new rock star boyfriend are also guests of the resort. Taking pity on mw, the hotel concierge offers me an expensive suite for free in exchange for cleaning up the room myself.

I begin spending time with the concierge and start to develop feelings for her. Meanwhile, the relationship between my ex and therockstar begins to falter. Much of the discord is triggered by the news that her TV show has been canceled and that he is about to embark on a world tour with his group for 18 months. During a day of surf and sand the rock star and I run into each other and begin talking. Inadvertently, he reveals he and my ex began having sex a full year before she broke up with me. When I confronts her, she tells me she began feeling disconnected emotionally from me and she couldn't do anything to make our relationship work. Further exacerbating the situation is her obvious jealousy of the budding relationship between me and the concierge, while I (through observing her relationship with the rock star) begin to realize that my relationship with the ex wasn't as great as I remembered.

The 4 of us later share an awkward dinner together. After the dinner, I take the concierge back to my hotel room and we begin to have sex. The ex hears them through the wall and initiates sex with the rock star, moaning loudly for the benefit of the couple next door, and me and the concierge turn the situation into a competition and become even louder. When the rock star realizes my ex is clearly putting on a performance to provoke a reaction from me, he stops the sex and tells her the trip was a mistake as she's clearly not over me. They bicker furiously, prompting him to announce that the relationship is over. The next day I encounter him, and learn that he and my ex have broken up and that he is flying back to England. I go to the ex's room to console her where she admits she still loves me and tries to rekindle our romance. We start to engage in sexual activity, but I abruptly cut it off because of my feelings for the concierge, and my now ambivalent feelings towards the ex. I immediately go to the concierge to confess what happened, but she is hurt and demands that I leave and never contact her again. Before leaving, I take down a naked picture of the conciergel from a local bar despite enduring a beat-down from the owner.

I fly back to Los Angeles and after a period of sadness and self-loathing, I begin working on my Dracula puppet comedy-rock opera, A Taste for Love. I send an invitation to the concierge for the opening night performance. Although extremely hesitant at first, she eventually decides to attend. After the performance she congratulates me and tells me she's looking into attending school in the area. She leaves so I can bask in the success of my show, but quickly returns to my dressing room to tell me she misses me. I tell her that I have missed her, too. We embrace and kiss.
