The Clinton list of requirements for this event was like 5 pages long. They wouldn't allow other samplers to appear in the store, no employees were allowed to approach her under risk of termination, they essentially closed that 1/5th of the store so that she wouldn't have the indignity of seeing customers shopping for OJ while she was appearing, etc.
My company sells into Costco so I got some of the scoop. Costco sells more high profile books now than Barnes and Noble does. This appearance was a key part of her lucrative book deal because the publishers need to bend the knee to Costco.

that actually makes tons of sense. no one goes to the book store to buy books, but some premium shelf space at a one stop shop...I can see a lot of people saying what the frick and throwing it in
