Sadly, this is what all this shite comes down to. It's not the average person who sees these monuments on a daily basis because those people are so use to seeing it that it doesn't bother them at all.. But making a big deal out of it makes the news so it is an easy target for some jackass looking to make a name for themselves.
And it is something they can create, in order to get done so that they can stick a feather in their hat... To put on their resume.
