If it has automatic transmission, avoid it like the plague. They are great cars, but once that transmission fails, they are disasters.
I've heard the manuals are ok, but I wouldn't touch one after my experience.
Most shops can work on Asian and US transmissions and get them good-as-new. Never could find one that could get that German transmission running again, and that includes dealer and specialty shops.
