Moved to BR from there in the early 80's.
Most of my family still lives in that area.
It is beautiful - read 4 distinct seasons. A little snow, not much humidity. Beautiful mountains.
At the same time, I wouldn't trade the people, culture, food, or Tigers for living there. Not even close. ??

From Baton Rouge, but lived in Chattanooga for nine years. Beautiful area, town is too touristy, but it was an ideal location, 1 1/2 hours from Nashville, Birmingham, Knoxville, and Atlanta. For SEC fan, there are a lot of games within driving distance. Smokies just up the road, too.

UTCs problem is that they have to compete with Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee fans. No one really gives a fig about UTC football. Even the students go to SEC games before a UTC game. Better the last few years, but when I arrived in Chattanooga, they had won one game in three years, or something like that.

Chattanooga was a nice place to live, and I would consider moving back for retirement if I didn't have to deal with the people there. Can't compare to the people in Louisiana.
