Since this is a government agency I don't believe they can fire the guy here. He has a right to free speech. Stupid thing to joke about, for sure. But this isn't a private company we are talking about, the police department is a government actor, obviously.

Police officers do not have the right to say whatever they want and not be fired. That isn't how the 1st amendment works. Thanks for playing. Buh bye.
