Yeah instant reverse is convenient but it's just that a convenience. If your talking about hunting low winter month water and the water drops out on you and your decoys are floating sidewAys there is nothing better than full power reverse. No ifs ands or buts. And I love nothing more than a low water hunt

I hunt late winter marsh with no water and have never needed full power reverse just sayin. I think guys with it get into those situations because they know they can get out. You shouldn't need to run 6000rpms in reverse to get out of a duck pond. The instant reverse is no slouch
eta: I agree with Bluemoons about the speed. That's one of the reasons I don't really care for them and would, like he, prefer an outboard with a jackplate. I'm really curious to see how the EFI's and the new GatorTail XD runs.
