There's also the opposite end of prosperity gospel, poverty gospel. People who feel you can only be close to God if you're suffering and/or poor, which is also a false doctrine. Solomon talked about it in Ecclesiastes. He knew great wealth, he knew poverty, good health, sickness, and he called it all vanity when compared to striving after God. So you can have wealth or you can be poor, but if you're not seeking God, it's all pointless.
