Considering purchase of used Polaris Ranger...Need advice

I've got an opportunity to purchase a 2008 Polaris Ranger 700 XP (EFI) from a friend who is moving and cannot take it with him. It's got 5000 miles and 525 hours on it and he's asking $4,000. Only issue is the parking brake will not stay in the off position. Hence the bungy chord noticeable in the front profile picture. What say the OB, fair price or not?

Make sure you check on any noises it is making. CV joints, both inner and outer, all around is no easy job. Parking brake linkage should not be difficult to fix. The 5000 miles bugs me a bit at the price. Engine ticking? She looks good though.

Pass. Will have major issues in the next 1.5 years

This was my first thought, but I do have some concerns with the some of the noises it's making - i.e., linkage "clanking" when starting to move after shifting gears. No engine ticking or it's not noticeable. I've got a mechanic down the road that'll look at it for me when he returns from vacation at the end of the week. Thanks to all for the input.
